The Dog’s Paw offers the most comprehensive puppy class around. Every Sunday from 11:00am-12:00pm puppies gather in our 800sqft training area or outside in our 1/2 acre "Barking Lot" to socialize and learn basic obedience. For the first 20 minutes of class the puppies socialize while we discuss the importance of proper play styles and the need to advocate for your puppy. We have a brief intermission to potty our puppies. The next 20 minutes of class are spent working on basic obedience using our unique marker training language. We wrap the class up with a recall exercise and 10 minute question period. 

In 10 weeks your puppy will learn their name, to sit, down, place, recall, loose leash walk and so much more! For signing up, you will also receive a free food pouch and training leash!  All puppies 10-20 weeks of age can attend. Puppy class has staggered registration which means that if your puppy is between 10-20 weeks old, you can start class this Sunday! If you register your puppy at 10 weeks of age, you will be able to attend class for 10 weeks, assuming you don’t miss any classes. At 20 weeks of age puppies are no longer able to attend Puppy Class.  Not sure if you want to commit to 10 weeks of training? I also offer a drop in rate of $50+HST.  All puppies are required to have their first DHPP vaccine to attend class.  This is why we have puppies start at 10 weeks rather than 8 weeks as first puppy vaccines are typically done at 8 weeks of age.  This allows the puppy to build immunity for 2 weeks prior to joining class, post-vaccine.

Have you met with us for a consultation, attended our puppy class or joined Training Dogs Online and would like an opportunity to practice training your dog with a bit of extra coaching? Our group class is geared towards returning training clients who want to practice proofing the skills and behaviours that have been taught through our other training services. 

The focus of group class will be to meet our dogs where they're at and build on each individual dog's skills based on their individual needs. For some dogs this may simply be working on handler engagement and for others this may be proofing more complex behaviours. For this reason the class is "drop-in" in nature and the schedule can be found here.

 Small Dog Socials provide a safe, fun, and  controlled environment for small dogs of all ages (20 lbs and under) to  interact with other same-sized dogs. These sessions are designed to help  small dogs develop confidence and social skills through positive and  engaging play experiences. Along with playtime, the sessions include  exploration of different surfaces and objects, allowing dogs to warm up  at their own pace and learn to read social cues appropriately. Classes are held weekly on Monday evenings between 6:00-7:00pm and are drop-in.

 This  6-week obedience class is designed to provide a comprehensive  foundation in dog training, focusing on essential commands, building  food motivation, managing training environments, and troubleshooting  common issues. Each week builds on the previous one, ensuring steady  progress and a deep understanding of effective training techniques. By  the end of this course, both dogs and their owners will have a solid  foundation in essential training skills, ensuring a well-behaved and  responsive dog. This structured, supportive, and engaging course is not  like other dog obedience classes, it  is designed to meet the diverse  needs of dog owners, providing valuable training opportunities that are  both fun and beneficial.

Cher of Street Wise Canine and Melissa of The Dog’s Paw have come together to offer the most collaborative and comprehensive dog training program to grace the online training scene. This program allows you to work at your own pace, in the comfort of your own home while still seeing the amazing results you would get from in person training.  Training Dogs Online has everything from obedience commands, leash walking, puppy raising, handling exercises to behaviour modification exercises. 

Clients are given an 8 unit course to work through in a self study fashion, however support and coaching are offered 24/7 as needed throughout the process. Our videos are packed with amazing footage of our dogs being worked through this exact program, step by step! We offer video support within the platform once per week using Zoom, which acts as a "class" meeting time as well as an opportunity for clients to ask questions in greater detail. Although it is not required, it is highly encouraged for clients to video their work and submit it for feedback. If you are not comfortable sharing certain content, feel free to message us and we can discuss making alternative arrangements. During the zoom call we go over the video footage posted from clients, as well as answer any and all questions clients may have. The videos posted by clients allow Melissa and Cher to offer constructive feedback and strategies to ensure your success.   

Previous TDO clients will also receive discounts on future online courses conducted by either Melissa or Cher, in person seminars as well as Private Sessions and Group Classes.  Training Dogs Online, unless specified, will run on a continual basis. This means that you can join in at any time! 

Join us for a pack walk where your dog will get to fulfill his social desires in a safe and controlled environment. All dogs are to be kept on 4-6ft leashes and are never to interact with with the other guests (human or dog). 

This sport is suitable for any age of dog and their owners.
I  have trained dogs from 3 months of age and up. I have been competing in  Nosework for 10 years and instructing dogs and their owners for 5 years  now. Come join me for 6 weeks of fun with your dog. 
All exercises are done on leash and dogs will not be socializing in this class.

Level 1 - Introduction to Nosework
This class is suitable for any dog and their owner, who knows nothing about scent and has not had any introduction to the sport.
We  will be introducing and working primarily with UKC scents. Dogs will be  introduced to 5 different scents by the end of the 6 weeks. I will also  have available scents from CKC and SDDA, as well, for anyone who would  like to introduce their dogs to them. Dogs and their owners will learn  scent in a variety of situations for fun and competition. Classes will  be geared towards competition, however any of the exercises can be  adapted to use just for fun with your dog in your own house or yard.
COST: $250.00 for 1.5 hrs per week for 6 weeks

Level 2 - Intermediate/Advanced Nosework
This class is going to be suitable for any dog and their owner who already know scent or are competing in the sport.
We will be concentrating on exercises to better your dog and you, as a handler. 
I will be presenting exercises in containers, interiors, exteriors and vehicles.
One  week of classes will also introduce, you and your dog, to Handler  Discrimination. This is the sport of the dog searching for his  "Handler."
COST: Availability and cost of this class to be determined by demand. Classes will be 1 hr per week for 6 weeks
